once upon a time in the west...

the club was founded in september of 2015 as a splintering of the gay touch footy team, the spoofters, and filled a gap in the market as a safe space for queer people to give out the niche sport of wrestling in australia. created in support by, and as a sister club to the sydney silverbacks, the wranglers were able to offer unheard of low prices for membership and training which are still to this day the cheapest prices for wrestling in victoria.

the wranglers continued to expand as a club over the coming years, developing their own 'wranglers series' designed to get members competition ready. these competitions would include participation in the 2018 paris gay games, the annual tony galluzzo competition held by the silverbacks in sydney, and various local, state and national competitions. these successes were overseen by the club's first head coach and commonwealth games athlete, connor evans.

the club took a decline during the covid-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022. while classes and social events were trialled online, the pandemic devastated the club and saw a steep loss of membership and revenue.

coming out of the pandemic, the wranglers have a new face and a new determination to return the club to its glory days.
